The landscapes, symbols and organic forms that emerge in my work mirror life and offer a call to reflect and nurture the soul. A range of materials have been transformed and repurposed so that they transcend definition and traditions. The outcome is an experience which enters a mystical realm where ritual, genealogy and anthropological roots are explored.
As a young girl I stepped in a hornets nest while hunting for a place to make a moss fairy house. I ran home covered in hornets with the stingers still attached and went into shock. I feel this experience gave me a deep connection to the natural world and the spirits within it. I am intrigued by moss, vines, hornets, bees and other winged creatures their nests and world.
Growing up in the country in Virginia, our fun was what we made within ourselves. Our mother was an artist and or father fostered a love of community and the natural world. I have been a life long artist and received a BFA from Parsons School of Design, NY. After working for many years as a colorist and designer, my focus turned to painting, printmaking and assemblage. My work has been exhibited throughout the country and in Europe.
Travels to India to study yoga, meditation and sound healing gave me new eyes to see. I became a certified yoga and meditation teacher and began offering healing arts programs to the community. My creative focus is art as a vehicle for collaboration, connection, exploring diverse cultures, and healing.
